Jazz Theory Privacy Policy

Last updated October 26, 2026

Jazz Theory is made by Big Refactor LLC ("we"). We built the app to collect as little information as possible.

Your data stays with you

Your progress, settings and history are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud, they sync through your personal iCloud account using Apple's iCloud service. We cannot see or access that data. Apple handles it under the Apple Privacy Policy.

No accounts

The app does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts or location.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how people use the app and improve it, we collect anonymous usage events through PostHog, such as which screens are opened and which features are used. These events also include basic technical information such as app version, operating system version and device model. A random identifier is generated on your device so we can count unique installs. It is not tied to your identity. We do not store IP addresses, and we do not use this data for advertising or share it with data brokers. You can turn off analytics at any time in the app: open the Progress tab, tap the gear, and turn off Share anonymous usage data.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report through PostHog so we can fix the problem. A crash report contains technical details such as the error, what the app was doing when it happened, app version, operating system version and device model, along with the same anonymous identifier described above. It does not include your name, contact details or anything you have entered in the app. Turning off Share anonymous usage data also stops these crash reports.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple also sends us anonymous crash reports. You can change this setting at any time.

Tracking

We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Data retention

Analytics data and crash reports are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access or delete data about you. We hold no data that identifies you, so in most cases there is nothing to access or delete. You can still contact us at matt@bigrefactor.com and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
